8th Grade Social Studies will be used as a transition year from Middle School to High School. Expectations are purposefully set high, while still being attainable. Students will be required to check the "BLOG" tab when they miss class due to illness or pre-planned excused absence. Upon returning to school student's assignments will be due the following day (or after the amount of days missed). If at all possible, it's encouraged students check the virtual classroom to complete missed work before the return to school. Listed below are classroom grading policies and discipline procedures:
Grading Breakdown:
10% Homework, classwork, and other forms of "practice"
90% Evaluations of student learning such as tests, projects, and quizzes
-All Late Work IS accepted up to a week late.
-Tests and quizzes can be retaken up to two times. The mastery of the content is more important than when it is mastered.
-Absolutely No Extra Credit: Extra credit artificially inflates grades. A grade is communication to parents and guardians and not compensation for completing assignments or homework
-Students are expected to make wise decisions while at school, especially in the absence of adult supervision
-Infractions for poor judgement may include a warning, a conference with teacher, a phone call or email home, a parent teacher conference, a before/after school detention, or referral to the office.
